TfNSW GET NSW ACTIVE PROGRAM

PROJECT OVERVIEW

JPE’s John Posthoorn was engaged by TfNSW as a Project Manager for the TfNSW Active Transport program. John managed the interface, development and construction progress of the Get NSW Active City of Sydney portfolio which included projects such as:

  • Oxford Street and Liverpool Street Cycleway
  • Castlereagh Street Cycleway
  • College Street Cycleway
  • Elizabeth Street Cycleway
  • Surry Hills to Central Precinct Cycleway

A project highlight included John championing the Oxford Street and Liverpool Street Traffic and Transport Impact Assessment. This required communicating to key internal TfNSW stakeholders’ changes to the road corridor network and obtaining approval within TfNSW.

The NSW Government wants walking and bike riding, known as active transport, to be the preferred way to make short trips and a viable, safe, and efficient option for longer trips. The Get NSW Active program provides local councils with funding for projects that achieve these outcomes. These trips help to relieve pressure on our roads and public transport networks and are part of a healthy lifestyle for NSW communities.
